SEO strategy

An effective website search engine optimisation strategy normally comprises of:
  • Content and key phrase research
  • Creating relevant content after research
  • Structuring the actual content within the site itself
  • Building Inbound links

First and foremost it is important to research key phrases which people are likely to use in order to find your website. Some tools that are available for this purpose are:

  • Google suggestions (Google Toolbar)
  • Google Adwords Tool

Based on the key phrases, the next step is to create unique pages for every key phrase. Every page must have a relevant title, meta tags, key phrases within the heading and actual content of the page. Please note, this should not be overdone as you might risk being penalised for content spamming.

Building inbound links is another major focus of any website SEO strategy. In the past, people have utilised reciprocal linking and buying links from other sites with similar content. Websites have had major success in the past utilising these 2 strategies. However, Google has made it clear that links from "authoritative sites" will only be considered. Some ways to get around this is by publicising your site offsite or utilising other social media sites to promote your online presence.

Another popular tool that has come into prominence in the recent past is Blogging.
